Climaginaries?

Climaginaries is a merger of "Climate" and "Imaginaries". The purpose of Climaginaries is to bring together different perspectives and practices in order to enhance understanding of the transformative capacity of imaginaries in regards to the environmental challenges we are facing, not least the challenges connected to the acceleration of climate change and what this might mean for the future.

The beginning

Climaginaries starting point was in the spring of 2017 when researchers from Lund University, Utrecht University and University of Warwick met up to discuss the potentials of artistic practices in shaping the narratives of climate futures. A research project was initiated and in the autumn of 2017 we received financial support by The Swedish Research Council Formas. The research project Climaginaries was launched in September 2018 and lasted until December 2022. Since then, new members have joined in and a formal association has been formed.
