Climaginaries is a merger of "Climate" and "Imaginaries". The purpose of Climaginaries is to bring together different perspectives to enhance understanding of the transformative capacity of imaginaries in regards to the environmental challenges we are facing, not least the challenges connected to the acceleration of climate change and what this might mean for the future.

The beginning

Climaginaries came about in the spring of 2017 when researchers from Lund University, Utrecht University and University of Warwick met up to discuss the potentials of the culture scene in shaping the narratives of climate futures. Planted was the seeds of the project and in the autumn of 2017 we received financial support by The Swedish Research Council Formas. Climaginaries was launched in September 2018 and will go on for at least three years.
