The Time of the Forest
Skogens Tid (The Time of the Forest) is an immersive audio walk that invites listeners to explore the forest through different ways of understanding time. As participants walk through a real forest landscape, the soundscape opens subtle passages to other forests and other temporal rhythms.
The project begins from a simple insight: forests are shaped not only by ecological processes, but also by the ways humans organise and value time. In some forests, time follows the logic of production – measured in growth rates, rotation periods and economic returns. In others, slower ecological rhythms dominate: the long cycles of growth, decay and regeneration that unfold over centuries. Forests are also places of shared time, where human lives, memories and everyday practices intersect with the temporalities of other species.
During the walk, listeners encounter three perspectives on time: time as money, time as cycles, and time as shared time. Moving between these perspectives reveals how the forest can appear as resource, ecosystem, or common world.
By making different temporal orders audible, Skogens Tid invites participants to reflect on a deeper question: not simply what is the forest?, but what time do we want the forest to live in?
Premiere in May 2026.
